Little Milli Miller rough collie puppies

On wednesday we visited Aapo's birth home in Lelle. It was really enjoyable rendezvous. Aapo could play with his mother Kimmu and sister Essa. But also we could see the little rough collie puppies and meet new family member Welch Corgi Pembroke (whom Aapo really fancied).

You can see the beautiful rough collie puppies and their pedigree in here and contact. The puppies were sooo cute and some of them were really active. We hope all the puppies find good, sportive and active owners.

Latvian Winner ´09

Today we participated in Latvian Winner ´09 international dog-show.

Judge: Kamen Litov (Bulgaria)

Valuation: big and powerful, very good type and appearence, good upperline, fluffy throatline, good bones and joints; forechest, legs (feet) stay and move really good; good moving; really good fur, colour, character and temperament.
See the original text on the right pic.

Results: Excellent, BM 2, res CACIB.

BOB was Oneway's Gold Rush and BOS was Shulune Imperial Mystique. Congratulations!

The main purpose why I entered Aapo into this dog-show was the reason to get a valuation from the judge, because we planned to go this summer to Bulgaria and then it would have had a great opportunity to get to know the Bulgarian republican federation of cynology president and his taste. But either way the trip to Bulgaria has cancelled for this year. To be honest I was a bit dissapointed of the judge and his valuation way. He really wasn't that interested of the breed and judging (he didn't touch the dog practically at all) and the valuation was really declarative - what only shows that he doesn't know the breed much (in my opinion). Oh well I am still a rookie in dog shows and it's good to have these kind of practises in the early years so to be smarter next time. But by all means I would prefer more critical judging then declarative acknowledgment. Either way we are richer now of a good experience and it was really nice to see all the smooth collies owners and their lovely dogs :)

Thank you Maarja for taking great pictures, being the third eye aside the ring and giving me some great feedback! It really means a lot to me :)

In the same weekend was Sweden Winner, were Aapo's sister Milli was BOB and father Rico was BOS. What a results! Congratulations Soile, Satu and kennel Milli Miller :)

Winter-trick

Today we participated in "Winter-trick" or as in estonian "Talvekoerus". It was arranged by dog-school Koerus and took place in Vääna-Jõesuu.

There are 3 trick events in one year and the winter-trick event was the first in this year. We participated in A-advanced class, cause it is the heaviest for the tricks and is a bit longer then other H-hobbie and K-puppies classes roads. All together there was 14 people in A-class and we got 11 place juhuu.

The event was really great, I truly enjoyed it. The place where it was arranged was just lovely. There were soo much people and dogs participating what gave also a good opportunity to let Aapo socialise with different type of dogs.

The road was difficult mainly because some of the check-points were hard to find and just last night snowed a lot that the ground was govered with a thick snow coat and it made harder to run in it. But the lessons what we needed to do in these check-points were really fun and versatile.

Firstly we needed to walk through this labyrinth made of ribbons and in the end of it we both needed to go through the tunnel hehee. Secondly I needed to know Aapo's weight and then they weighted me with out him and after with him. And juhuu I knew his weight. Well it was a bit hard for me cause Aapo's weight varies from 25 till 27 kg. And now when Aapo is really fit and muscular he weights 27 kg :) Third lesson was to leave Aapo behind the ribbon and I needed to take 3 sausage one at a time and put them just before him on a plate and Aapo couldn't take them. Fourth lesson was like a pitch&go competition but the different was that I needed to take one strange plaything and throw it on the square were there was also very different playthings including the same I throwed Aapo but Aapo ought to bring me back the plaything I throwed him :) and he managed the lesson well thanks for the many pitch&go competitions we have took part of I would say ;) The fifth lesson was to lead Aapo around the tree while I was standing behind the ribbon far from him. The next lesson was to figure out under which of the two pair cup were the peafstakes. And the last lesson was to put your dog into a sleigh and he needed to stay in it while you pulled him about couple of meters over a ribbon and of course we managed it really well ;))

In the end I was soo tired but really happy to manage all the check-points. It just took us a bit longer time, but it's a start :) We had a great day full of emotions and diverse exercises - we loved it :) Aapo is soo tired now and is resting.

Dog-school Tubli photo-competition

Dog-school Tubli arranged photo competition on theme "Why do I love my dog". This time we also took part of it. Firstly the theme seemed really simple cause we all love our dogs, but the guestionword "Why" made it a bit harder. Oh well the reason why I love my smoothie Aapo isn't that complicated - it just lays under the simple things :)

You can see all the pictures here

Advanced clicker training

On wednesday I took part of clicker training course for advanced arranged by dog-school Tubli teacher Svetlana Zolotnikova.

The tution lasted about 3 hours. Firstly she run over the basic things when training your dog with a clicker, secondly she talked the different clicker training ways and fixing plans, then we analysed the things what we have done by clicker, we learned how to develope our sport dog training ever more and how to get rid of problematical behaviour. These were only some of the themes we talked about. I recommend the training to get to know even more.

I got lots of good ideas and thoughts how to go foward when training Aapo with a clicker :)

Sleighing

So tonight near Nõmme market dogschool Tubli people went sleighing. Of course there were few dogs with us, because what kind of event would it be without dogs ;)

On the left - Riina is sleighing down the hill and on the right - Leela is making snow angels.

That was just wonderful experience. What I ride and feeling we got. The hill was so high and harsh that when you sleighed down the hill you were all covered with snow. You had snow in your face, hair, clothes - that was just soo funny and refreshing. Really great event.

Know your neighborhood!

This month I have a little vacation off work to write my masters thesis and I have a bit more free time than usual to spend with Aapo.

I have made a plan to take everyday a longer walk with Aapo while in the same time getting to know my neighborhood better. Also it gives a great opportunity to build Aapo's fysical shape and prepare him for the summer intensive training and travelling.

In our neighborhood there are so many beautiful places that I didn't know before just because I haven't had the time to wander off here. Time passes so guickly and while you notice it, things have been changing so much, too much. So go out and discover your new developed homeland!

Sunday on Women's Day we took a longer walk with a beautiful irish red setter Pipi. We had a really nice, sunny and long-lasting walk. After that Aapo was sooo exhausted and rested the half of the day, while I on the other hand was so anxious and watched the Crufts 2009 online and cheered for Aapo's sister Millis success. What a day! :)

Crufts 2009

We have been watching 4 days now the great "Crufts" live from http://www.cruftslive.tv/

And today night it was really what to looking foward and watch - because Aapo's sister the great Milli Miller Viisakas Virginia (Milli) got the Best of Breed!!!! That is unbelievable results! Especially because it was the most famous dog show in the breeds home country, there were entered all together 73 collie smooths, and to win under the breeds specialist - Wow :) We are really thrilled of her great results. Biggest Congratulations to kennel Milli Miller, Soile Huhta and Satu Asikainen :)

Milli is also JWW´08

Also today was Aapo's fathers Dandinas True Swinger (Rico) 5th B'day. And what a gift Milli gave to her father being BOB in Crufts. Wow ;)

We wish Rico many excellent show, obedience and agility results, sportive and happy years ;)

Some videos

Here are two videos of Aapo. The first one is made just before the Shrove Tuesday, when I tried to teach Aapo with a clicker to ride with a sleigh. It is just a beggining, hopefully next Shrove Tuesday he is already sleghing down the hill by himself..

And the next video is done in our agility practise.

We recommend to turn up the volume as well ;)

I croped the videos and putting the music behind using Quake Video Maker. Also to convert the files use Switch Sound File Converter.
