Snow

Last couple of days the weather has been amazing.

So much snow everywhere and Aapo loves it. Few days ago when it started to snow we went out in the morning and when Aapo saw the white carpet laying on the ground firstly he froze for a sec and then he went mad.

For a moment he had so much energy to run very guickly and fast - he was seeingly happy :) He loves the weather and everything that is done or is involved with the snow.

King of the snow-hill :)

But some bad news as well. Few days ago Aapo got a poisoning of paint smell (we had some repairing work at home) and he was sick (didn't eat much and puked). So now he is gaining his strenght, rests a lot and enjoys the weather and snow. Hopefully he will be good soon :)

Prospecting eyes

24.11.2008 Aapo's eyes were prospected in Tiina Toomet clinic by Ülle Kell and the result was good.
Aapo's eyes are: healthy - PRA, RD, catarct, CEA free.

Agility-training

I thought to write little bit our agility trainings. When we started to do agility on march this year, then we had trains once a week at Loomade Hoiupaik, Tallinn. But in summer-time, when we had more time and energy we did agility even three, four times at a week. So we had busy schedule :) And then we learned a lot, learned all the obstacles one at a time, how to lead your dog and other tricks. Now when Aapo knows all the obstacles, the main thing, key is the motivation. The will to do agility and do it guickly. That's what we do now - try to learn to love it. But it is not so easy than it sounds. Cause I, Aapo's owner, would like to do everything perfect at the first time from the beginning till the end, but that kind of approach isn't correct. That will kill the motivation to do agility amusingly and that would also kill the speed of the dog. So we use frisbee to keep the fun in it and also to carry the energy and willigness over to do agility.

Now we have agility trainings inside and at Saue, so there is no problems with the weather and danger to injure ourselves. Agility ain't so innocence sport than it may see. Before starting, it is important that the dog is warmed up, not to injure himself later. And after training you have to stretch your dogs muscles. In this sport and in every sport you need to take it slow and not to hurry, cause you want your dog to be happy and love to do everything with not against you :)

Running up to the hill competition 09.11.2008

Keila Dogfriends Club IPSON arranged today the competition of running up to the hill in Keila.

There were lots of participants from different breeds. It was a fun event. Aapo was very active and couldn't wait to run up to the hill. So he was fast and had a good result. His time was 14.84 sec and in the middle growth class he got 5th place.

Here are some pics at the start. Aapo: "Let me go, let me go already, I want to run!". Aapo: "Weeee finally i'm free to run to my owner guickly, guickly, faster, faster!" :) Pictures made by our dog-school trainer Sveta.
Aapo's smooth collie friend Kaira run faster, her time was 14.20 sec and she got 2nd place and Aapo's schoolmate Naskur got 4th place in the middle growth class. Congratulations!!

Many thanks to the organisers for the event, the awards were very nice and practical :)

Tartu international dogshow 08.11.2008

Today we participated in the Tartu International dogshow.

Judge: Charlotte Hoier (Denmark)

Characterization: very attractive young male, nice temperament, very ... in all matters, perfect flat ..., super ears, the stop is long and his eyes a bit too round, very nice neck and topline, very nice ... and angulation, moves absolutely perfectly, shows nice, very potential dog!
... - don't understand the word.
Result: EXCELLENT (SP, pink ribbon). We got BOB Jun title and our third JUN SERT, so now we can confirme the EST J CH and LV J CH.
It was very succesful day for the family. Aapo's sister Essa got her last jun sert as well and now she also can go and confirme EST J CH and LV J CH :) Congratulations!!!

This dog-show gave us a very good experience. Firstly, our showing time was very early in the morning and secondly just before the ring our showing leash broke, but happely we had another for cover, so it turned out well. I couldnt thank for my forsightedeness later to take another leash with us. And after that Aapo did great! He enjoyed showing himself, what is the main purpose in our opinion.

This time we got TPJ, so we had to wait for until 5 o'clock before it was our turn again to participate in the best junior competition. And on the opposite, now Aapo was tired and didn't want to show himself practically at that. Another dog sniffed behind him constantly, what was a distraction and what we needed to handle and practise with. Well it wasn't so bad but I know Aapo could be better and be more free showing himself, so we were pleased with the results. We were choosen from 30 dogs above the best 11 dogs. So its a good start! In conclusion it was our biggest show experience we have had for now, because of the lengthen of the show as well as not the expected suprises :)

Tubli autumn-walk

Every year dog-school Tubli arranges a dog walk, this time it was on the Üksnurme hiking trail near the Saku borough. The hiking trail was about 10 km long and the land-scape was versatile.

On the walk were besides Aapo a dalmatian Marii, inglish springerspaniels Carrie ja Sassu, bordercollie Chilli, smooth collie Jänku, welsh springerspaniel Nessi and irish terrier Roosa - all of them were bitches so in the beginning Aapo was set place and he was a bit softy, fuddy-duddy :) but in the end he was braver and enjoyed himself more.

In conclusion the walk was fun, socialising and sportive :)
